Each year, Habitat for Humanity at the University of Michigan cosponsors a home, named the "Michigan House," in the local community for a family in need. University of Michigan students rise early each Saturday to volunteer with renovation projects around the house, and throughout the year, we hold fundraising and advocacy events to raise money and awareness for the house and our mission.
We are very grateful for all the students who have volunteered with us, the sponsors who have generously donated to us, and Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley who have supported us every step of the way. We are thankful for the opportunity to work in partnership with these people and groups to empower the community.
Meet The Brantley Family!
Shelly and Anthony, originally both from the East Side of Detroit, now live in Ypsilanti with their two sons Anthony and Simon. They are expecting another son, Aaron Dion Rufus Brantley, in November 2016! Shelly is a stay at home mom and Anthony works as a machine operator.
Shelly and Anthony are excited about their new Habitat home and here's what they have to say about it: "Life for us has been good because of GOD on our side though the ups and downs. Becoming a Habitat homeowner means the world to our family, we are so excited to say "This is ours!" What we look forward to about owning our own home is peace and happiness!"
